More ways to game with keyboard & mouse support arriving soon to Xbox One

American tech giant, Microsoft, announced on Monday that keyboard and mouse is on the horizon for Xbox One consoles. The latest peripheral support promises new capabilities and flexibility for all players on the Xbox One.

The keyboard and mouse support has been years in the making since its announcement back in 2015 despite Microsoft distancing itself from brining “PC-like features” to the Xbox platform. As the excitement for the support continues to grow as the support brings increased flexibility and function, however, it also faced growing criticism. Some critiqued that a high DPI mouse could be of a great disadvantage over the controller due to its high precision with controller thumbsticks which is a cause of concern especially with shooter and battle royale titles.

But Microsoft are taking great care with the keyboard and mouse support, testing with a select group of titles as well as consulting with various developers if the support should be made available. Once available, the developers can add the support to their IPs side-by-side with controller support and tailoring the rollout around the title.

Microsoft aims to make games (and gaming) “fun, fair and correctly balanced” as the arrival of keyboard and mouse support won’t negatively impact controller input instead developers will be able to separate players by peripheral to maintain competitveness.

While at this stage, only Warframe has been revealed to be the first native title for keyboard and mouse support on Xbox One, it was also reported that a partial support for Minecraft was demonstrated last year which could make the early lineup.

Microsoft will make a full announcement on November 10, 2018 with a list of native keyboard and mouse titles at the XO18 fan event in Mexico City, Mexico where a live episode of Inside Xbox is scheduled for broadcast.
