#WeekendRoundup: State of Decay 2, last gaming releases and incoming content updates

Can you feel it? The month end is fast approaching as were merely days away from the biggest gaming convention event, E3. But as we look forward to a week filled with some work time and gaming time, we reflect back on the weekend that was with these weekend news roundup.

State of Decay 2 reaches one million

A massive congratulations to Undead Labs on the success on the zombie survival game, State of Decay 2.

Merely days following its release, the game has reached over one million players and according to GM of Marketing at Xbox, Aaron Greenberg, there has been a combined time of over six million hours played and 3.5 million of streamed gameplay on Mixer, Twitch and YouTube.

Greenberg continued to go on about how players have made State of Deacy 2 one of the most viewed games on streaming platforms:

Across player communities, we’ve seen survivors kill over 675 million zombies, throw over 6 million firecrackers and fireworks (survivors still find ways to celebrate), eat over 6 million bags of snacks, read over 2 million textbooks, and typically survive for about three days (with some players surviving for over an in-game month – a lofty goal to aim for your session this weekend).

Many have actually commented that this isn’t an accurate statistic on the game’s success since launch six days ago, it’s a fair arguement that game sales should determine the game’s success.

Maybe a little to early to be hauling out the champagne?

New gaming updates arriving this week to curb the winter blues

Some of our favourite titles are expecting some really fanatstic content updates this week.

The highly anticipated arrival of Sea of Thieves’ latest content update, The Hungering Deep, will have players solving the mystery in a series of riddles of one “Merry” Merrick. There will be plenty of in-game items to enjoy and maybe a rival could be spotted across the seas.

As covered last week, Rocket League’s Salty Shores will bring the light to our winter blues on May 29 and the FIFA 18 World Cup Russia update also arrives on May 29 merely days ahead of the world’s biggest sporting event, the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
