EA, DICE to host major Battlefield V reveal today

Last week, it was Activision and Treyarch with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and several weeks earlier it was Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Today, yet another reveal event is in the spotlight courtesy of Electronic Arts and developer DICE (or EA DICE).

The next entry in the first person shooter series, Battlefield V, finally gets its big day following weeks of teasers which includes an elaborate Easter Egg in Battlefield 1 which was discovered by players on the Fort de Vaux map including a mysterious door labeled “isolement” as well as leaking pipe to which the dripping sounds were actually Morse code translating a hyperlink to #Battlefield and the day May 23.

There hasn’t been much revealed on the game itself but the developer may have teased the game’s background setting of World War II (Battlefield 1 was WWI) which could be of great competition to Activision’s Call of Duty: WWII.

Another feature that may have been teased is single-player campaign mode which was subtly hinted at during an earnings report this year and the phrase “War Stories” in a tweet, a reference to Battlefield 1, more recently. Additionally there will be plenty of “new modes and experiences” for Battlefield V but we will only know the full details at the reveal event later today.

South African comedian and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah will be hosting the proceedings, even expressing how “V EXCITING” it will be to host the reveal.

The reveal event will be streaming live on its Battlefield website as on its official Mixer, Twitch and YouTube channels for what promises to be an exciting day for FPS players. The event will be broadcasting live at 10pm CAT as more of Battlefield V will be revealed at E3 next month in Los Angeles.

Prepare for May 23. Battlefield will never be the same.
