It’s been way too long, old friend…
May 17, 2018.
You may want to forever remember that date as it may have been the third episode of Inside Xbox but it was also the day Treyarch Studios finally unveiled to the world the latest entry in Call of Duty’s Black Ops series. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was treated to a massive worldwide exclusive reveal which Tryearch got to show off the months (maybe years) worth of hard work in a stunning reveal trailer that took out breaths away…
Treyarch Studios showed off impressive visuals, enticing action sequences and a trunk load of content and features that will take Black Ops 4 to the next level. When one thinks of Call of Duty, we think of zombies and they’re aggressive, ferocious and we have to aboard the Titanic to fight them?!
Black Ops 4 will be bringing three new zombies mode experiences available on launch in celebration of the mode’s 10-year anniversary. IX, Voyage of Despair (the Titanic zombies mode) and Blood of the Dead will bring immersive adventures, new characters and treacherous enemies which will also include new game systems for creating and completing community challenges and social systems to connect players together.
Another feature that got our pulses racing is its ultimate multiplayer experience to Black Ops 4. Featuring a gritty, grounded combat with a massive arsenal of weapons, maps and modes that merge with tactical gameplay and full customisation levels, the multiplayer feature will set precedence to be the most fluid multiplayer experience with major improvements to weapon controls, combat fluidity, health regeneration and player movement.
But what is set to be the biggest takeaway from the reveal event is the introduction to the first battle royale mode to Call of Duty. Enter Blackout. This battle royale mode blends Black Ops’ signature fast, fluid, balls to the walls combat with the familiar gameplay mechanics we have come to know from battle royale titles such as H1Z1, DayZ, Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
Blackout is deemed to be a battle royale experience unlike any other where players will scavenge, strategies and compete (like Survivor’s “Outwit, Outplay, Outlast”) with the biggest map we’ve ever seen as players will engage in diverse combat with ground, air and water vehicles, either solo or in teams, on iconic Black Ops maps, weaponry and equipment to earn your Chicken Dinner (wrong game, lol) and become the Sole Survivor.
There is so much that I couldn’t unpack into one article but for a complete review of the day’s reveal event, head over to Activision’s blog post for the full details.
