Recently, the gaming community has been teeming with excitement as E3 is around the corner. The internet is currently filled with hundreds of articles involving predictions and expectations, which we all know people love to read and complain about. So, naturally, this week I thought I would add to that number by talking a bit about what I would like to see at Microsoft’s Xbox showcase this year.
As Microsoft hasn’t really given any hints about the new games in development Phil Spencer is constantly referencing, my wants are a bit on the general side. In total, I’ve got three very vague hopes.
1. A Single-Player Action-Adventure Exclusive Title Reveal
If there is one area that Microsoft is really missing in its line-up of exclusives, it is a good action-adventure single-player game. Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2 are both multiplayer experiences, and Crackdown 3 seems to be a game heavily focused on multiplayer too.

I understand that multiplayer games are more profitable and that a greater number of people are interested in them. However, that doesn’t mean people who love single-player titles of any variety should be forgotten.
At the moment, this year’s most highly-regarded game is God of War; a single-player action-adventure game. In 2017, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Horizon Zero Dawn were two such titles.
Quite simply, Microsoft needs to make their own single-player action-adventure game of the same quality of those previously mentioned. Xbox One owners want it and the console would be so much better for it if there was one such game available on it.
A couple of months ago, there were a few rumours of Microsoft hiring developers for a game similar in-style to Horizon Zero Dawn. It would give me so much joy if such a game was announced at E3 this year.
2. A Great Line-Up of Soon-To-Be Released Interesting Indie Games
So, last year I remember a lot of people complaining about Microsoft showing too many indie games. But, a game’s a game, right?
If a game is fun, it shouldn’t really matter how big it how small a title is. I had so much fun with Cuphead last year (pulled a lot of my hair out too) and I am so glad Microsoft took a chance with Studio MDHR.

I wouldn’t mind Microsoft taking more chances on new upcoming indie games. There’s just so many fun experiences to be found in this area that don’t always follow the same formula. And, I mean you never know, one of them could be a major hit, right?
3. Scalebound Back in Development
So, many industry insiders say that Scalebound is a game that people actually wouldn’t want to see come out due to being in development hell for so long. While I think it’s obvious that nobody wants to play a game that is broken or doesn’t make any sort of sense, I do know that a lot of people were heartbroken when this game was cancelled.

I was one such person. (I actually technically bought an Xbox One to play Scalebound and Sunset Overdrive.) You know, if there was a way for Microsoft to release this game and not have it be a terrible mess, I would be so happy. However, if it was so easy to wipe away all the problems and release amazing games, I think everybody would be doing it.
There were a few rumours about the game being back in development but I think it’s a bit of stretch even for the most optimistic of people. One can dream.
This is my list and now I want to know what you want from Microsoft from E3 this year. Are you amped for a new Halo or Gears? Or, do you want to see some new IP? Please share in the comments down below.
