Well, it was certainly evident there was miscommincation between Eidos Montreal and publisher Square Enix recently as a studio head has revealed new details for the upcoming action adventure title, Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
David Anfossi, Eidos Montreal studio head was interviewed on EPN TV when he revealed details that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be running on Xbox One X at “4K 60 FPS“. However, before Square Enix could confirm, it was circulated by most news outlets leaving Sqaure Enix out in the cold. The publisher had since rectified Anfossi’s comments in statement sent to Windows Cenrral in which they revealed there will be some graphical options available for Xbox One X.
“Shadow of the Tomb Raider will not run 60 FPS while in 4K. To allow for a more customized gameplay experience, the game will include two visual modes: ‘4K Resolution’ which runs in 4K resolution at 30 FPS, and ‘High Resolution’ which is targeting 1080p at 60 FPS. Both modes will feature a wide variety of additional enhancements such as HDR, improved physically-based rendering, hardware tessellation, anisotropic filtering, additional dynamic foliage, and more.“
While this news may be slightly disappointing for fans, the option for 30 and 60 FPS for Xbox One X is incredible as this gives players the choice of which option would be give them the best Tomb Raider experience and we certainly wouldn’t have it any other way. However, do keep in mind that this was the same framerate option players received for Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Earlier this week, Square Enix revealed the Gear Guide for Shadow of the Tomb Raider plus news that Lara Croft will be inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame alongside Spacewar!, John Madden Football and Final Fantasy VII.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is available for pre-order for Standard, Digital Deluxe and Croft Edition. Shadow of the Tomb Raider releases worldwide in September 14, 2018.
