The brand new season for Fortnite has crash landed in epic fashion (mind the pun), bringing new content updates for Fortnite’s Save the World and Battle Royale modes giving diehard fans something worth looking forward to play.
Editor’s note: we have clearly defined the differences between comet and meteor for our readers below sourced from The Mercury News.
-
Comet: A body of ice, rock and dust that can be several miles in diameter and orbits the sun. Debris from comets is the source of many meteoroids.
-
Meteor: A meteoroid (small rocky or metal object) that enters the earth’s atmosphere and vaporizes. Also called a “shooting star.”
The new season finally concludes the mystery behind sightings of meteors throughout season three which has been the topic of discussion among Fortnite players on various forums. A comet has crashed into the Dusty Depot (now Dusty Divot), destroying the area as seen in the trailer above. Wth the comet crashing onto the island, it has left craters throughout the map, transforming the map and unveiling a new location, Risky Reels and more points of interest (POI) in the process.
Developer Epic Games had been teasing the new season for close to a week, something very comic related which appears to be faces of superheroes which may have been drawn to the trail of the comet. But similarly, this could possibly tease the theme for the new season, being all things superheroes, as season three was space themed.
The superhero theme forms part of the game’s Save the World quest line which features the assemble of a superhero team (Avengers anyone?) as part of a five-part narrative. This could also be an indication of what cosmetics and emotes could be coming to the game in the weeks or months to come.
The full patch notes for the new season is available on Epic Games’ website for the full list of changes arriving to the game.
