Rare to launch new Sea of Thieves content in May

For many Sea of Thieves players, the one thing the game currently lacks is not having in-game content for players, which is rather surprising for some (me including).

Well, Rare has a simple solution for that. A recent blog post revealed the official roadmap for the game which includes plenty of additional content for all the pirates.

So, mateys, get err cannons ready!

A tide is coming to the shores and it will bring some incredible new content for players. According to executive producer Joe Neate, Rare have been looking for opportunities to improve on many features post-launch as “launch is just the start, and we are going to grow and evolve the game with feedback from our community. It feels like the right time to reveal how we’ll do this.”

The amount of server maintenance have been aplenty and sometimes bothersome but this is all to improve the Sea of Thieves experience by addressing various issues post-launch and provide necessary feedback before introducing new content. By doing so, Rare looks to achieve some distinct goals from its content plans:

  • Bringing players together in interesting ways, encouraging different types of player encounters
  • Enriching the world that players adventure in
  • Giving players new ways to play
  • Giving players a variety of goals and rewards
  • Broadening the journey to Pirate Legend and beyond

With thay being said, just what exactly does Rare have instore for players? The first batch of content will arrive next month. The Hungering Deep will introduce players to new content and features including a terrifying AI threat that could crack some eggs (sorry chickens). Crews will have to form an alliance to tackle this new threat in a upcoming event which could reap some golden rewards. New mechanics will also be introduced to assist players in their voyage and there will be some unique rewards at the end of the horizon which can be earned during the event.

Rare will also introduce new weekly events starting in May give players unique and inventive ways to earn bonus rewards. Beyond The Hungering Deep, two forthcoming content updates, Cursed Sails and Forsaken Shores will introduce players to new ships and a new map to explore respectively with nee gameplay mechanics, rewards and plenty of threats to blow up.

These new content updates will be free to all Sea of Thieves players.
