#WeekendRoundUp: Shenmue returns, milestone for A Way Out and new Kings of Halo was crowned

This past weekend has been rather productive for the eSports industry with plenty of action to watch. Halo had its Free Play Weekend this past weekend and the SEGAFes happened this past weekend with plenty of excitement and reveals for die-hard fans.

Here are some of the past weekend’s top news stories and events.

Shemnue coming to Xbox One later this year

Well, no one really saw this coming as SEGA announced that Shemnue will be arriving to modern consoles sometime this year.

Announced during a Twitch live stream, SEGA revealed that Shemnue 1 and 2 will be completely remastered for PC, PS4 and Xbox One featuring the game’s original jiu-jitsu combat, its famed investigative sleuthing and RPG elements such as it’s real-time open world with day-to-night cycles and weather changes.

Following Ryo Hazuki, a young man who after a family tragedy embarks on a journey to avenge the death of his father but along that journey, he unravels secrets of an artefact, Dragon Mirror.

SEGA have yet to announce a release date for Shemnue 1 and 2 but with anyone’s guess, we might expect it this Summer.

A Way Out reaches the one million mark milestone

The action adventure title, A Way Out reached its first milestone as the game has officially sold over one million copies since launch.

For the game’s director, Josef Fares, it was a bittersweet moment as it was a monumetous feat for him and his team at Hazelight Studios.

According to projections made by ots publisher, Electronic Arts, it had forecasted that A Way Out woild sell over 200 000 copies during the fiscal year with over 890 000 in its lifetime. Rather a hard sell from EA, the game has thus sold over one million over two weeks which exceeded EA’s projections.

This is a very promising sign for EA and a boost of confidence for Hazelight Studios. Congrats guys!!!

Halo World Championship Finals pulls its largest crowd this weekend

The Halo World Championship Finals in Seattle, WA, USA attracted its largest crowd to date as 16 of the best Halo teams from around the world competed for the top prize.

With teams like Team Envyus, Renegades, Team Enfused, Splyce and more flying their country and battle flags at the two-day Championship event, it was anyone’s game to win this year. Once the dust settled and all the teams having played and took defeat, only two teams stood tall: Splyce and TOX battle it out once more last night.

For TOX, who went into last night’s Finals as defending champions, competed under Optic Gaming last year, as they could be the first team to win back-to-back HWC titles while Splyce merely wants to dethrone the current champions.

It was a hard fought battle which in the end saw Splyce became the new Kings of Halo, dethrone TOX claiming the Halo World Championship title.
