Our childhood will be fully ignited as Spyro makes a return to gaming
After months of intense speculation which was further sparked by a mysterious delivery to American gaming news outlet, IGN, the most anticipated news story finally came to a head.
Yesterday, publisher Activision finally delivered the news that many of us (who have been following the story) that the purple, fire-breathing dragon, Spyro, will indeed making a return to video games following a lengthy hiatus.
In celebration of the character’s 20 years in video games, a definitive collection of dynamic gaming titles named The Spyro Reignited Trilogy, in celebration of this milestone will go on sale this summer with Actividion setting the release date for September 21 for PS4 and Xbox One.
The Spyro Reignited Trilogy will feature three Spyro titles, Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon all fully remastered with improved environments, updated controls, better lighting and recreated cinematics for a little bit of flair.
According to Chief Creative Director of developer, Toys for Bob, who commented on the recent reveal of Spyro Reignited Trilogy:
“We’re deeply passionate about staying true to the legacy of the original three Spyro games with the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. We’ve poured a lot of love into making the personalities and worlds feel just like fans remember them, while also keeping the game collection surprisingly fresh with lush, high definition detail. We’re bringing back the Spyro we all fell in love with twenty years ago.”
Along with the announcement of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice making its way to Xbox One this year, this is a great change of pace seeing formerly PlayStation-exclusive titles branching out to other gaming platforms.
