Lara Croft steps out from the shadows in new Tomb Raider game trailer

The legend of the Tomb Raider returns for yet another epic adventure

Due to a number of rumours and leaks, publisher Square Enix finally silenced the media by announcing the return of the Tomb Raider herself, Lara Croft in her next adventure, Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

A teaser trailer was unveiled on Thursday which shows Lara Croft in her most defining form to date.

The title has been long rumoured for production gong as far back as Gamescon 2015. Sqaure Enix boss Phil Rogers had teased that a third title could be in the works and since then, there have been subtle hints at the game including the publisher confirming a third Tomb Raider title last Decemeber.

The team at Crystal Dynamics will once again be at the helm developing their eight Tomb Raider title (seven console, one mobile). Following upon their brilliant work on Rise of the Tomb Raider, currently avaialble this month on Xbox Game Pass, the Shadow of the Tomb Raider is set to be the climatic finale in Lara Croft’s orgin trilogy so don’t expect any water works.

The announcement comes as the film reboot is hit cinemas worldwide this weekend with many critics giving the film an average rating but has been a hit so far with die-hard fans.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is expected to arrive to PS4, Xbox One and PC on September 14 which could possibly mean we might spot the title at E3 in June this year (merely hinting here) as gaming’s biggest event is surely building up to be one of the more memorable events of recent times.

But until then, there will be an official reveal happening beforehand on April 27, 2018. Square Enix will be hosting a puzzle event this Monday at 6pm CAT, which will be running on the official Tomb Raider site.
