EVO 2018 Championship Series is shaping up to be one of the best gaming events for the year as the official lineup was revealed last week.
The event will see the return of classic titles like Super Smash Bros. remain a part of the lineup and the inclusion of modern releases on the back of a stellar 2017 that had produced some explosive fighting titles like Tekken 7, Injustice 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.
And if that’s not good enough, 2018 has already seen Dragon Ball FighterZ, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and EA Sports’ UFC 3, fighting aficionados can expect more fighting releases like BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Brawlout and Soul Caliber VI
However, the lineup announce did see a few snubs, particularly Pokken Tournament and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Pokken’s mechanics would’ve blended in well with the lineup (especially since it borrowed the mechanics from Tekken) and MvC: Infinite would be major competition for the rest of the lineup especially since it has a relatively good fighting engine and great tag team mechanics, their omissions didn’t not go quietly…
Irrespective of the lineup, one cannot help but think that this year’s lineup will offer some of the best fighting titles since the event’s inception over 20 years and with the city of Las Vegas hosting this year’s event, “What happens in Vegas” won’t be stay in Vegas especially if EVO is rolling into town.
EVO 2018 Championship Series will be hosted at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino on Las Vegas from August 3-5, 2018. For more information, visit the official website for EVO Championship Series.
