Last Thusday, Epic Games issued a statement on their website regarding the fate of MOBA title, Paragon.
“It’s with heavy hearts we’ve decided to close down Paragon.
We truly appreciate everything you’ve put into Paragon. We received many passionate ideas for where to take the game; the outpouring of thoughtful suggestions is another testament to this incredible community.”
The studio further announce that all servers will be going offline on April 26. The studio offered an apology to all players who have dedicated their time into Paragon.
“After careful consideration, and many difficult internal debates, we feel there isn’t a clear path for us to grow Paragon into a MOBA that retains enough players to be sustainable.
We didn’t execute well enough to deliver on the promise of Paragon. We have failed you — despite the team’s incredibly hard work — and we’re sorry.”
The MOBA title first launched in March 2016 in Early Access before moving to an open beta in August that year. While the title never had a full launch, the game was initially a paid-to-play before going free-to-play.
Epic reps wrote in a Reddit post last week that due to the success of Fortnite, the title had brought over Paragon staff to assist with maintaining the game which may have hindered any visible progression for Paragon.
Epic will be issuing refunds to all persons who have made purchases for the game and have issued steps for PC players to attain their refund.
