The original Xbox controller, the Duke, arriving in March

Xbox’s ginormous controller, the Duke, evoke nothing but pure nostalgia and even in today’s gaming scene, people still do miss the rather largely sized controller.

But never fear as the original Xbox controller is making a massive comeback in 2018 as Xbox plans to relaunch the controller according to Xbox co-creator Seamus Blackley.

Peripheral manufacturer, Hyperkin, was at the helm for the production of the Duke as the controller was on display at this year’s CES 2018 in Las Vegas last week. However, the controller does come with some updated features. One of these new editions is an OLED screen in place of the famed Xbox jewel which when presses, plays the original Xbox bootup.

Other nifty changes include two shoulder buttons which function as the back and white buttons, a wired micro USB connection for the Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC and the memory card slot has been done away for. The new Duke controller will most likely weigh less than the original Duke as a result of these important changes.

Blackley stated in an interview that it was “miraculous” that Xbox had given him the green light to bring back the Duke. Fans can expect the new Duke controller sometime in March as the controller is expected to retail at $69,99 (around R870).
