Epic Games adds more points to explore for Fortnite: Battle Royale

Epic Games had some incredible runaway success in 2017 with their shooter title, Fortnite and its Battle Royale mode which continues to gain momentum into the new year. But just recently, Epic revealed a new update is on the horizon and it looks to be the update if you’re looking for more places to seek.

Announced in the first developer update video of the year, lead systems designer Eric Williamson, detailed on what changes are expected with the update and when players can expect this update to drop.

So, say goodbye to those beautiful Christmas trees and the festive chests…

According to Williamson:

“This is for two reasons. The first reason is, the event is over. The second reason is, with all of the additional points of interest on the map update, we’ve got a lot more treasure chests, a lot more ammo crates, and we wanted to make sure that loot was distributed evenly, so that there isn’t too much additional rare loot in the match.”

The new update will include new points of interest to the existing map and we finally can get acquainted with the new town names on the west side. With the new POI’s, there are more places to drop which should even out the playing field.

Also, the biomes are getting more in touch with Mother Nature as Williamson stated that this will make the different points on the map quite unique.

If you haven’t downloaded the V.2.1.0 update, it’s best you’d do it in time for the map update. To view the V.2.1.0 patch notes, visit Epic Games’ website for more information.

The map update is expected to drop sometime this week. More details to follow.
