Game Releases for Xbox One & Windows PC: Janaury 2018

To our XBPSA community, we do hope and trust you had a fantastic and safe new year cos we at XBPSA Media most certainly have…

And on the topic of it being the new year, with it comes plenty of gaming goals we couldn’t accomplish last year and brand new gaming releases to thoroughly enjoy and play with and against others. And while there will be plenty of releases on other platforms this month, two of the year’s biggest releases will be dropping this month.

Dragon Ball FighterZ (Xbox One)

Deemed one of the year’s most anticipated releases, Bandai Namco may have hit the lottery with the anime fighting game, Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Our favourite Saiyan, Goku, and his friends must prepare themselves for an epic battle against an energised Android 16 and its Android army. The story mode thus is split into three chapters: Super Warriors, Super Villain and Android in which players will play the chapters through the eyes of Goku, Frieza and Android 18.

The game adopted several gameplay mechanics from titles like Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and Guilty Gear, a title from developer Arc System Works including control schemes while FighterZ’s “Vanish” and “Dragon Rush” moves bare similarities to Guilty Gear’s Roman Cancel system according to a fan-created Reddit feed.

The hype, partly due to the great marketing of the game, the gameplay mechanics and the current roster all makes for a great and successful fighting title and if last year was any indication, the fighting genre is enjoying its best of years.

Kamehameha your way to victory when Dragon Ball FighterZ releases January 26, 2018 on Xbox One and PC.

Monster Hunter: World (Xbox One, PC)

Consider the main entry in the Monster Hunter series according to the game’s producer and director, Capcom undertook a fresh new approach in which the game’s vision would be realised by Western audiences for the console platforms.

The result is a massively open world game three years in production and game accessibility to players who have never played a Monster Hunter title before. Several changes that were adopted include meticulously detailed environments, Western control scheme and interface layout and slightly reducing its difficulty to make it easy to grasp the game for new players.

While the Windows version is scheduled for a late 2018 release, the game is expected to include high definition resolutions for which Capcom have included the option for players to play a high graphical version and a low framerate or a low graphical version with a high framerate.

Venture out into a diverse ecosystem in Monster Hunter: World which releases January 26, 2018 on Xbox One and PC. The title will also be enhanced for Xbox One X.

Railway Empire (Xbox One, PC)

If you have played a tycoon title or have heard of one, then Kalypso Media’s railway simulator, Railway Empire looks to revitalise the genre.

Kalypso, a German-based developer, has taken upon themselves to launch a full-scale railroad simulator title since Railroad Tycoon in 2006 to fill a void left by many publishers and breathe new life int the genre.

Railway Empire will serve as a history lesson in which it delves into the history of steam locomotives in the United States from the 1830s. Players will get involved in economic opportunities for locomotives in the single-player campaign mode as players will travel coast to coast, to the Midwest and back. Players will also establish a well-organised rail network which could determine the success of your empire and with over 40 locomotives and 30 wagons to be acquired where players can use to their advantage.

Build up your empire from the tracks in Railway Empire available on January 26, 2018 on Xbox One and PC.
