‘Winter is Coming’ as Overwatch’s holiday event returns

It’s going to be another snowy Christmas for Overwatch fans as the Winter Wonderland event returns bringing gameplay modes like Mei’s Snowball Offensive and plenty of legendary skins as well as a new arcade mode.

But what appears to be the focal feature of this year’s event is the mode, Mei’s Yeti Hunt, where a team of Meis (five of them to be exact) do battle with a Yeti (a.k.a. Winston). To win as a Yeti, avoid being defeated by the Meis by collect enough powerups to activate the Primal Rage mode to take down most or all of the Meis.

According to the game’s director Jeff Kaplan, he also revealed additional content arriving with the seasonal event.

So, there’s a lot coming. I know one of your favourite things to talk about whenever we have a seasonal event is new skins. There’s obviously going to be a lot of Legendary skins; I don’t want to reveal them all, I want to leave some surprise for you when you log into the game. But I can tell you a long-awaited Hanzo skin that you’ve seen before (maybe in one of our comics) is coming to light and we think it’s pretty awesome.

The multiplayer shooter recently won the Best Ongoing Game at the Game Awards this past Thursday beating GTA Online, Warframe, Rainbow Six: Siege, destiny 2 and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

The Overwatch Winter Wonderland event arrives on PS4, Xbox One and PC on December 12, 2017.
