In light of the EA/Star Wars Battlefront II controversy, there are still ways that loot boxes can be introduced and marketed, guaranteed it doesn’t resort to mass backlash.
The global phenomenon battle royale title, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) currently allows players to spend extra cash on loot boxes (if they choose so) as according to press release by Bluehole Studio, sees a great demand for cosmetic items.
“However, there is a relatively strong demand for cosmetic items. Since the official launch is our top priority, we plan on adding new items after that.“
However, the studio assured players that these new items won’t be affecting gameplay but it has yet to be confirmed what these items would be.
In this same statement, the studio addressed the efforts to curb cheating in PUBG. The studio went on to apologise for not dealing with the situation sooner.
“…we want to apologize for the inconvenience caused by the cheaters. It is true that the company has not been well prepared to deal with this issue, with the game being launched on the early access program. The number of different cheats we have encountered has far surpassed our expectations.
We are aggressively addressing this issue as it is our top priority. There is a new team dedicated to this task, which has already demonstrated great results through tighter and improved policies as well as around-the-clock monitoring.
We are well aware that an anti-cheat effort is an endless fight. However, we will never be discouraged and keep working hard to create a frustration-free play environment.“
Staying with PUBG, the game unveiled a new desert map despite various rumours and leaks, in which the studio hadn’t share much on the latest map addition.
Miramar, PUBG’s new map features industrial areas and buildings, plenty of desert land and quaint beach towns.
Accompanying the launch of the new map included weapons and vehicles which could change strategies on how to survive not just the new map, but the game as a whole.
“As you might have seen in the screenshots released last week, the Desert Map will look completely new and different to Erangel. You will be able to enjoy new battles with the larger and more three-dimensional map design. We are working on new weapons, clothing items and vehicles, and there will be a surprise announcement about them before their releases.“
