The Blue Bomber is making a full comeback as Capcom announces a new Mega Man title slated for a 2018 release.
The game will be the first Mega Man title since 2010 in which the game promises to retain its 2D sidescrolling action much like its predecessors. Although using 3D modeling techniques, the game will live up to its previous titles making use of its colourful styling and aesthetics.
According to a blog post on Capcom-Unity.com, the studio aims to retain the game’s original and iconic gameplay yet introducing itself to new players with a refreshing new look and environments.
“…we’re revitalizing and revolutionizing Mega Man for a new generation while keeping the series’ tight classic gameplay and the heart of our beloved hero intact. Veterans can expect the series’ signature challenge, and we’re inviting new players to the mix with a variety of difficulty options to choose from in the game.“
This announcement also comes in the wake of the 30th anniversary of Mega Man in which during a livestream, Capcom announce that all eight Mega Man X titles will be making its way to Xbox One and PC sometime next year. Although Capcom has yet to reveal details on how these titles would run on modern consoles, the studio assured that fans can expect more details “in the coming months“.
