Survival shooter game, DayZ will be arriving first to Xbox One in 2018 according to its developer Bohemia Interactive.
Detailed in a Status Report by the developer last week, the studio lay out plans for the new year, address the unfortunate news surrounding its 0.63 update and revealed content features for the game’s PC open beta and console release.
The studio had a clear set of goals it wanted to achieve before launching the 0.63 build which included performance, stability, control, balance, and moddability. To avoid any post-launch backlash, the update will form part of the final stage before the game leaves Early Access and make a full release on console.
However, the studio has assured that additional features will be arriving with the 0.63 update including more characters, zombies, diseases (say whaaat?) an improved AI systems, increased server player count and much more. There will be plenty more features to be added between the 0.63 update and its scheduled PC Beta, which was slated to happen this year.
According to lead producer Eugen Harton, the planned beta will be “one of the most important years for DayZ”.
There is still more the studio wants to achieve before the game’s console release (1.0 build) which includes more vehicles, more weapons and animals just to mention which will arrive post beta/console release. “DayZ is a game AND a platform, and we intend on keeping DayZ alive for as long as it’s viable,” wrote Harton.
