Overwatch, Gears, GTA V bringing the spooky this #Halloween

Halloween may be this Tuesday (October 31) but this is the perfect opportunity to score some impressive gameplay time and awesome spooky titles to get you in the mod this Halloween.

Some of our favourite titles have been running Halloween events for much of October. Kicking off the month, Blizzard announced the return of Overwatch’s Halloween Terror event which we saw some incredible skins on characters like Mei, Zenyatta, McCree and Reaper. Some maps received the Haloween treatment and Junkrat has lost his marbles once again…

Get your “Nerf on” this Halloween as Halloween Terror runs until November 2.

Also, getting into the scare of things, Activision has launched a Halloween-themed event for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Willard Wyler’s Halloween Scream. Designed bring utter terror to players, the event comes with new game modes, Double XP and Haloween-themed loot. Each week, players who log into the game will receive Supply Drop which its contents can vary from weapons, Rig skins or a Calling Card. Yay!!!

There will be plenty more loot dropping during the month so get logged in to receive some spooktacular loot until November 1.

Grand Theft Auto V is celebrating its fifth birthday…in ghoulish flair as a new game mode with some Halloween tie-ins. Condemned is GTA V’s new Adversary mode where a player gets marked for death as the only way to survive is to kill other players.

Be the last ‘dead’ man standing and earn Double XP, RP and that sweet GTA$ until November 6.

Our favourite hybrid title, Rocket League will be doing Halloween their way with the Haunted Hallows event. Just by playing online, players will earn a new set of currency: candy corn (mmmmm…). The Candy Corn moola can be spent on items to trick out your ride, decryptors and yes, Halloween-themed crates (which contains some ghastly items). The Candy Corn moola will reside in your inventory for a week only so take sweet advantage as the purchased items will be yours for eternity, but not so much for the Candy Corn.

Rocket League’s Haunted Hallows runs until November 6 so get racing and scoring now.

Rounding out some of the Halloween gaming events, Minecraft’s Halloween Spooktacular event has been running for a while, however, if you didn’t know, Minecraft will be bringing Halloween-themed content available on its servers on its Bedrock Engine platforms. On the Lifeboat server be prepared for any and all Halloween shenanigans featuring a haunted house parkour course??? InPvP features the Haunted Mansion SkyWare map (sounds Terminator-esque to me) and The Pumpkin Kings raids the Mineplex as you fight off hot, flaming pumpkins…we did say shenanigans.

Also available on Minecraft and tying in with Halloween are new skins featuring characters from the popular Netflix series, Stranger Things. Players on the Bedrock Engine platforms can nab this DLC for 430 coins (apparently) as several costumes will be available for Eleven, Murray, Billy, Chief Hoper and more characters from both season one and two, so be warned, this DLC will feature some spoilers…or eleven.

Covered last week, Gears of War 4 will have a Halloween event running this month which was part of their October Update. Obviously, we couldn’t cover all the devilishly awesome Halloween content but we can mention titles receiving the Halloween treatment including For Honor, Absolver, Killing Floor 2, Smite, Final Fantasy XIV, RIFT, World of Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls Online, Fortnite, The Escapists 2, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Entropia Universe, Guild Wars 2, Hacktag and Paragon…
