Halo to receive a Xbox One X boost for The Master Chief Collection

Over 130 games have been confirmed for 4k enhancements for the Xbox One X so it couldn’t hurt if another title joined the list…

Developer 343 Industries announced that their popular first-person shooter series, Halo, will be joining the list as the Halo: The Master Chief Collection (MCC) will be receiving the enhanced 4k boost for the Xbox One X. The collection, released in 2014, which included graphically enhanced versions of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 alongside Halo 3 and Halo 4, was launched in anticipation of the release of Halo V: Guardians (released in 2015).

The announcement was made during a Halo livestream on Tuesday as the studio also revealed few details on the Halo: MCC upgrades which include more than the visual boost that the collection will be receiving for its Xbox One X release.

In a blog post on Halo Waypoint, the developer revealed how they intend on revitalising MCC for the Xbox One X and how it will be taking advantage of Xbox’s advancements.

“To help facilitate this process we’re planning to roll out a public “flighting” program for MCC to allow for iterative patches and updates while testing in the wild at large scale.”

As for Halo V, it too will be getting a 4k update for the Xbox One X, however, it won’t be receiving the high dynamic range (HDR) colour rendering.

In that same livestream, Halo-ween themed Costume Guide will be arriving soon as well as the new season of the Halo World Championships (HWC) 2018 where a LAN event will kick off the new season in the US before rolling out more events in Europe, Australia/New Zealand, Latin America, and the rest of North America.
