Massive congratulations are in order for StudioMDHR as their indie platformer title, Cuphead, reached over one million in sales in two weeks.
The studio took to Twitter to thank fans and players alike for buying their game but also supporting the studio since the game went into production in 2010. The studio, which is founded by brothers Chad & Jared Moldenhauer, drew inspiration from cartoonists and popular cartoons like Popeye and Betty Boop.
The game has been a major drawcard for Microsoft since it was officially announced at E3 2014. The move also pushed Xbox’s ID@Xbox program where developers and studios can use the tools and facilities provided by Xbox to self-publish their golden gems. Since then over 500 indie titles have been published through the program.
Once again, congratulations to the folks at StudioMDHR and here’s to the next one million sales.
