Hulu delves into esports frame by ordering four new shows

US streaming service Hulu will finally air esporting content as the streaming service has commissioned four shows.

Announced on Monday, the streaming service in partnership with ESL to produce new esports content which will explore the many sides of esports including training and preparation, news and trends and plenty more. These shows range from short-form podcasts to in-depth documentaries.

Player v. Player will be a debate talk show where teams argue for points on a variety of topics thus engaging a conversation amongst prominent esporting personalities. Bootcamp follows Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) team The Immortals en-route to a prestigious CS: GO tournament in California which viewers will get an in-depth look at how the team prepares itself for a major tournament.

Defining Moments is an esports analyst/magazine show, and ESL Replay will highlight four tournaments between October to December for titles like CS: GO, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Dota 2.

Hulu’s latest venture is a direct result following Twitch purchasing the exclusive rights for selected esporting events from developer Blizzard Entertainment. According to ESL’s Senior Vice President of Global Media Rights and Distribution, Nik Adams, the new esporting content will “showcase the diverse nature of eSports through high-quality storytelling.”

He further added:

“eSports appeals to a younger, more digitally savvy audience so Hulu is a perfect platform to build out our original content and expose the world of eSports to new audiences.”
