Five enhanced Xbox One X titles we can’t wait to play

Early this week, Xbox once again opened pre-orders for the standard edition of the Xbox One X, much to the delight of gamers worldwide.

With the pre-orders having gone live, Xbox announced that the enhanced titles list has grown to 130 titles. Some of the biggest titles including the recently released FIFA 18, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Star Wars Battlefront II and Super Lucky’s Tale from the world’s biggest developers and publishers (EA, Bethesda Softworks, Ubisoft) to the small, independent studios (Paradox Interactive, Psyonix, ), there’s plenty of gaming

But while the wait for the Xbox One X launch is just 46 days away…

Wait, what??? Oh crap, that’s not far off, but while we’re counting down the days, we’re taking a look at some of the titles we’re already falling in love and anticipate its release.

Forza Motorsport 7 (Turn 10 Studios)

One of the most highly anticipated (and exclusive) releases for the Xbox and Windows platforms, the folks at Turn 10 Studios have upped the ante and pumped up the accelerator…and the result is Forza Motorsport 7. As the most complete driving simulator, players can experience pure adrenaline on HDR and 4K Ultra HD making FM7 the golden standard of 4K gaming. With over 700 cars and over 30 racing environments, FM7 is the definitive automotive experience to date.

Release date: October 3, 2017

Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Moon Studios)

Announced during Microsoft’s conference at E3 this year, many fans were ecstatic for the sequel of the 2015’s Ori and the Blind Forest. Return to Nibel as Ori, a white guardian spirit, with a new set of adventures that will take Ori beyond the forest and manoeuvre around platforms and solve puzzles (like a boss, of course). As you embark on a visually stunning journey, uncover the hidden secrets of those lost and uncover Ori’s true destiny.

Release date: TBA

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (Bluehole Studios)

Breaking records by the second, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) could be a strong contender for Game of the Year?! The multiplayer online battle royale game has been on the lips and fingertips of almost every YouTube, Steam and Mixer streamer this year. Whether it’s giving DotA 2 or CS: GO a real run for its money on Steam or preparing itself for its console release, there’s an enigma about PUBG that makes us hungry for that $2 “Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner”. And while the memes and GIFs may be hilarious and those kill shots entertaining to watch, but on the battleground, its every man and woman for themselves.

Release date: TBA (consoles), available on Steam for PC

Tacoma (Fullbright)

2017 has been quite the year for independent releases. The ID@Xbox program has announced some interesting titles thus far including Aven Colony, the upcoming Cuphead and Tacoma. The space exploration game, is as much visually stunning, is proof that video games can tell groundbreaking stories. Like the studio’s previous title Gone Home, Tacoma unravels itself in a slow, steady pace that attributes to the game’s eerieness (since it’s already filled with phantoms and being set in space).

Rise of the Tomb Raider (Square Enix)

Two words: Lara Croft.

Square Enix gave much-needed life back into the adventurer/archaeologist Lady Lara Croft, we even saw a side of Lara most fans weren’t ready for.

Since rebooting the Tomb Raider franchise with 2013’s Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal have really done something magical that not only gave us the nostalgia but the Lara Croft we deserved (and sometimes don’t deserve). Filled danger and despair, Lara has never looked this appealing. And while we may slightly winch of her getting struck by almost anything and the tree branches and breaking bones, Lara is no longer driven by survival, it’s about obsession and boy, do we love her wielding the ice pick.
