Say goodbye for now to those external hard drives…
Microsoft has been working tirelessly in their underground lair developing a concept that could do away with storage space on both the Xbox One and Xbox One X. Dubbed the Intelligent Delivery system, it collects game data and organises it into files which can be deleted by the player, freeing up space if needed by the player.
So, how does it work exactly?

Let’s put things into perspective, for example, for FIFA titles that support multiple languages thus having a larger size download to support these languages, the player can delete all the language except for the language the player needs.
This system allows users to pick and choose which file/s they want to download forgoing files they don’t need. And Xbox One owners wouldn’t need to download all the 4K support files for the Xbox One X as it doesn’t support the console.
The system also supports games on multiple discs as the main disc holds all the game data plus additional data which can be separated to essential and optional data. As of now, Microsoft has allowed support for two discs but developers are hoping that in the near future more discs will be supported. However, this all depends on developers organising their data into files like multiplayer and campaign modes which they may not want to do just for the Xbox One X alone.
