Blizzard to use former ‘The Tonight Show’ set for esports arena

Blizzard will be opening its doors to Los Angeles on October 7

In March this year, Blizzard unveiled its first esports arena in Taipei as its Pacific Asia hub and many were wondering whether they’ll open up shop in the US. Well, this morning, Blizzard announced that the city of Los Angeles will be home to Blizzard’s second esports arena for the North America region.

The location for the arena will be in Burbank Studios, just an hour away from the developer’s HQ in Irvine, California, will use the set that hosted “The Tonight Show” for 40 years. the venue will be designed to accompany thousands of competitors and fans, multiple broadcasts and events.

The Blizzard Arena Los Angeles will have facilities including sound stages, player lounge areas control rooms and an on-site Blizzard store which will stock gear and merchandise in line with event/s taking place.

Already, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch events have been planned for the grand opening. The Overwatch Contenders Playoff will serve at the launch weekend event with European and North American teams descending to Los Angeles to battle it out for regional dominance and prize pools.

The Hearthstone Championship Tour will commence on October 13 with a prize of $250 000 on the line and a spot in the Hearthstone World Championships in 2018. Select matches for the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship Finals and World of Warcraft Arena Championship will be hosted at this venue in November. The arena will also be the home for the inaugural Overwatch League which will launch later this year.
