Gamescom 2017: EA unveils exclusives, game modes and a new ride

Electronic Arts took to the stage on day two of gamescom as the publisher unveiled new game modes, expansion packs and world premieres.

New game mode for Star Wars Battlefront II

A new space skirmish is coming to Star Wars Battlefront II, Starfighter Assault which had a live demonstration during the game’s program. This multiplayer mode, built by the team at Criterion Games (Burnout, Need For Speed) includes objective-based gameplay and class ranked vehicles. This new mode supports 24 players and it features classic Star Wars vehicles from all Star Wars eras including the Millenium Falcon.

Need For Speed Payback reveals more intense cop chase battles

High-speed cop chases are becoming synonymous with Need For Speed as seen in Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted. Now, they are becoming more intense and bringing much vehicular artillery to Payback as it was revealed at gamescom.

The new trailer, which was highlighted by the world premiere of the 2018 BMW M5, features new vehicles including the tank Rhino, helicopters and the trusted spike strips to bring down. The longer the chase, the more vehicles deployed.

The BMW M5 won’t go on the market until next year but players can drive the vehicle on November 10.

The Sims 4 gets playful and furrier

Maxis, the studio behind The Sims franchise, stole the show in the most adorable way.

Already announced, The Sims 4 will finally get a console release on November 17, announced a brand new expansion arriving a week prior to its console release. After three long, unfluffy years, cats and dogs will be introduced once again in The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs.

Players can customise their new furry friend in “Create A Pet” in age, breed and personality traits while designing their coats with colours and designs and can mix multiple breeds if players want to bring their real life pet to the game.

With the new expansion, a new occupation will be unlocked as you can play veterinarian as you can build, run and service your vet to the community. Activities for your beloved pet will also be availble as Cats & Dogs will be coming to PC on November 10.

EA Originals reveal more on latest IP

Similar to Xbox’s ID@Xbox, EA Originals is committed to bringing unique and beautiful gaming experiences by working with small developers to get these games to the players. We already saw that at E3 with A Way Out and at gamescom, EA Originals revealed more into their latest title.

From Swedish studio, Zoink!, Fe tells the story a cub, Fe, waking up alone in a forest as Fe must learn about the environment and its surrounding while interacting with the woodland animals.

Fe will be releasing in early 2018 on all platforms.

The Battlefield gets revolutionised

The closing segment of EA’s press conference at gamescom featured one of the studios best-selling franchise titles, Battlefield 1, getting a new lease on life.

EA DICE unveiled a new competitive multiplayer mode, created for the gamers and by the gamers which will be made available in a closed alpha next month.

Battlefield 1 Incursions is a new 5v5 competitive mode putting team-based battles on the front lines. With eight different character kits to choose from (Trench Surgeon, Control Leader, AT Assault, Battle Mechanic, Mortar Support, Raid Leader, Shock Assault, Proximity Recon) and infantry and vehicles included, players can “rank up to gain access to improved weapons and abilities based on a combination of time and performance”.

EA will be packaging the ultimate Battlefield 1 experience with Battlefield 1: Revolution. This repacked edition with feature the standard Battlefield 1 game and its four current expansion packs (They Shall Not Pass, In the Name of the Tsar, Turning Tides and Apocalypse) which will release on Xbox One and Windows PC via Origin.
