Fans will finally get to play in the Land Down Under…
A new map will be coming soon to Overwatch which we’ll be treated to an origin story of the game’s most frenzied characters, Junkrat and Roadhog.
The escort-styled map, Junkertown, was revealed at gamescom on Monday is set in the Australian outback, the native home of Junkrat and Roadhog which the map has been rigged with explosives.
“Junkertown is an Escort map located in the harsh and unforgiving Australian Outback. Constructed from the remains of a destroyed omnium, it’s now the home to a band of lawless scavengers known as the Junkers, led by their cutthroat Queen. When they aren’t pillaging the omnium’s skeleton for anything of value, the Junkers blow off steam in the Scrapyard—a massive gladiatorial arena whose combatants fight for glory, riches…and to survive,” according to an official map description.
The announcement was made with an animated short which provides some insight into the map as it will be coming soon to Xbox One and PC. Although no release date has been announced, gamescom attendees will be the first to try out the latest map addition to Overwatch.
