More details into CoD: WWII private beta, Zombies mode

Call of Duty: WWII developer Sledgehammer Games revealed the release date for the game’s multiplayer private beta and more additional content for the first-person shooter.

The multiplayer beta will feature three maps, Pointe Du Hoc, Ardennes, and Gibraltar as the developer hinted that more maps could be added before the beta ends. Playable modes, Team Deathmatch, Domination and Hardpoint have also been included as well as the new mode, War, which in this mode have you play either as Axis or Allies.

Testers will also get the opportunity to try out Divisions, CoD’s replacement for the Pick 10 system which will feature the Infantry, Expeditionary, Airborne, Armored, and Mountain Divisions.

Staying with CoD: WWII, Sledgehammer Games is going all out to produce the scariest Zombies mode to date. Leaning more towards the horror genre, the developer has stated that they have added their own take on this iconic CoD mode, which includes a new storyline, to keep it fresh and relevant for the audience.

According to an interview with GameSpot, Sledgehammer development director, John Horsley, he stated that the main aim was to increase the horror by stepping into the supernatural theme.

Our philosophy is that if you want fear to really grab you, it needs to come from some place familiar. It’s that twist that gets scary. Being chased by zombies in cartoon ice cream land is a lot less scary than being chased by zombies in your backyard. It’s something that we feel has really worked out for the team.

The new refreshed approach to Zombies is that players will now kill zombies in a constant moving area which electrical charge is created and it helps to unlock the next level. New zombie classes and types are introduced to Zombies as well as the return of the Super Zombies.

Additionally, players can choose between four separate player classes, Offense, Control, Support, and Medic which comes with its own customisable loadouts.

CoD: WWII Nazi Zombies won’t be available in the private multiplayer beta.

Call of Duty: WWII beta runs from September 1-4  at 10 am PDT (7pm CAT) on the Xbox One platform as the game officially releases on November 3. The game is available for pre-order via the Microsoft/Xbox Live Store.
