Blizzard Entertainment’s most iconic name returns with a new lease on life.

Late last year, the company announced that they will be renaming its online gaming network, at the time was “Battle.net“, for various reasons which one is that it would be easier to identify their products and services offered.
This week, it was revealed that the company added “Blizzard” to “Battle.net” and rebranded the online gaming network as “Blizzard Battle.net“.
According to the company’s news site, they’ve made it clear why the change was necessary and how this poses a challenge not just for them but for the players.
“We understood that Battle.net stood for something special—it represents years of shared history and enjoyment, community and friendship, for all of us and our players.”
They further continued, “The technology was never going away, but after giving the branding change further consideration and also hearing your feedback, we’re in agreement that the name should stay as well“.
Now the fun and confusing part of the matter came last year when they controversially dropped the “Battle.net” name, opting for “Blizzard“. Then it got more confusing when Activision announced that it will be using the online gaming network to host Destiny 2, referring the service as “Battle.net“.

Although Blizzard’s name-changing fiasco has left many of us reeling from confusion and exhaustion, we hope the company will stay with its new form and not do yet another 180º on us again…
Did Blizzard make the right decision to rename the “Battle.net” network, for the sake of branding? Or will they do a U-turn and again rebrand once more? Let us know in the comments section below or follow Xbox Players SA on Facebook and Twitter.
