Blizzard dishes up a new ice-cold expansion for Hearthstone

Blizzard’s collectible card title, Hearthstone, will release a new expansion this week, bringing smiles to Hearthstone fans on both mobile and PC.

The collectible card game based on the lore of another popular Blizzard franchise, Warcraft, revealed the latest expansion, Knights of the Frozen Throne as the second of three expansions set for release this year. Journey to Un’Goro, which released in April, featured the ninth new card set with 135 cards and a new hero, Maiev Shadowsong.

The Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion features 135 new cards in the tenth card set and a new hero, Arthas Menethil. Set in Northrend and the Icecrown Citadel, nine Hearthstone heroes become death knights for the Lich King after been overpowered by the Undead Scourge. The Hero Power and Lifesteal mechanic cards are introduced with nine Legendary Hero cards with a special effect that turns the heroes into Death Knights.

This expansion is the first to feature Missions: a new free single player content with eight missions taking players across the Icecrown Citadel to face off against the Lich King. Three new card packs and a Legendary card will be rewarded if the player can complete all eight Missions. The Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion releases August 11 (August 10 in the US).
