Spotify coming soon to Xbox One?

Spotify is planning on making the important “leap of faith” as an app will be heading to Xbox One consoles soon.

According to a Reddit feed which noted that Xbox Live’s Larry Hryb was revealed to be testing out the Spotify app on his account which could all the while mean that this could be possibly happening. Microsoft confirmed that they are currently testing the app internally which could possibly lead to a global roll-out of the music app.

The above tweet translates as “There I leave it, it seems that there is not much left.”

Further supporting this is that a desktop version of Spotify has already arrived in the Windows Store (it’s not available yet in South Africa). The Spotify app won’t serve as a universal app for Windows Mobile and Xbox One consoles but it will be available via the Xbox Smartglass app. This comes following two years of exclusivity to the PlayStation 3 and 4 consoles as Microsoft are planning to make Spotify available on the Xbox One X.

While we don’t have an estimated release for Spotify on all Windows 10 devices and Xbox One consoles, reports are suggesting that Spotify will launch in the Fall to coincide the launch of the Xbox One X.

What does this mean for Groove Music? Is there room for another music app for Windows 10 devices and Xbox One consoles? Let us know in the comments section below or follow Xbox Players SA on Facebook and Twitter.
