The tour’s over for Rock Band Blitz

The party rhythm game Rock Band Blitz has joined Alan Wake and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD as the latest victim to the expired music licence curse as developer Harmonix announced that it will be removed from digital stores in August.

Released back in 2012 on Xbox 360 and PS3, it was designed to be played using the console controls and not special instrument controllers unlike the rest of the titles in the Rock Band series. Players were allowed to download or export tracks from Rock Band 3 for Rock Band Blitz alongside the 25 soundtracks already part of the tracklist.

Harmonix isn’t planning on renewing the licence however, players can port the game’s 25 tracks over to Rock Band 4 free of charge, which means you can jam your favourite tracks on Xbox One and PS4 with the instrument controllers as Harmonix have laid out instructions on porting the tracks over.

More good news is that the soundtracks will become available as a DLC even after the game has been removed from the digital stores. These are the tracks featured in Rock Band Blitz:

  • The All-American Rejects – “Kids in the Street”
  • Avenged Sevenfold – “So Far Away”
