Thursday, developer Ubisoft announced that dedicated servers are coming to For Honor along with additional gaming content, all mapped out over the course of seven months.
According to the game’s director Damien Kieken on the Ubi press release, “One of them, and the main reason for us, is that we want to improve the stability of the matches on 4v4, and we want to have an architecture that is more long-term, that could help us more in the future for the things we want to do next.
“And then you have some very simple examples; with dedicated servers, you don’t have session host migration anymore, so there is no game pausing when somebody leaves the session. You won’t have to manage your NATs. You don’t have to check your NAT if you want to play with a friend or things like that. So it will also help greatly the overall experience of the player, from matchmaking to the game session itself, to playing with friends, and things like that.”
The servers are just part of a bigger plan for Ubisoft as they intend on releasing additional content which includes a new Duel tournament, a 4v4 PVP mode, fighting systems, maps, characters, weapons and armour variations and much more.
Creative director Roman Campos-Oriola has stated that community feedback was key to initiating the roadmap plans.
“Listening to the community and analyzing their feedback has been really key because we quickly understood we had to work hand-in-hand with them in order to improve the game.”
The announcement received mixed response, with many citing that “it’s a little too late”‘
The first rollout will start in August but do follow Xbox Players SA on Facebook and Twitter for the latest developments into For Honor and let us know whether adding servers for the game was a great move or not for Ubisoft.
