A new, exciting feature will be coming to all Xbox One consoles and according to Corporate VP Mike Ybarra, they’re “not far” off.
The feature in question is a game gifting service which will be found at the Xbox Store. Through this feature, Xbox One owners can buy and gift digital purchases for their friends and family who own a Xbox One console.
A similar feature already exists on Steam, it’s not yet supported on the PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch, however, Xbox could mimic Valve’s gifting system where the user can send digital purchases anywhere in the world where the receiver can either accept or decline the gift/s. If the receiver declines, the sender can opt for a refund.
Ybarra also had to answer the tough question whether players can delete games that have no Achievements which was supported on the Xbox 360.
This feature was widely popular amongst 360 owners, but it has yet to be ported to the One consoles.
Will this feature be hugely popular in South Africa once it launches? What pitfalls could Xbox face with developing the game gifting feature?
