Xbox brought their “A-game” to this year’s E3 conference, wowing us with the Xbox One X (Project Scorpio), the smallest console ever made.
Not only was Xbox head Phil Spencer excited to be at E3, but so were the fans especially during the specs announcement for the Xbox One X.
The numbers certainly don’t lie and they were impressive, just as impressive as the 42 games launched and revealed by Xbox at E3.
42 FRICKIN’ GAMES!!!

Some of these games are exclusive to Xbox, now enhanced with 4K meaning it can be played across all Xbox One consoles, highlighting the cross-platform experience. Forza Motorsport 7 was one of the many Xbox exclusive titles alongside State of Decay 2, Minecraft, Sea of Thieves and Crackdown 3 all receiving a rousing applause.
A few surprises were revealed and it doesn’t get surprising than Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Origins. The game received its first look gameplay in 4K, much to the fans delight. Set in ancient Egypt, players play as Bayek, who navigates around the iconic limestone structures to deserts and underworlds in more detail and great depth, assassin-style. Bayek who struggles to fight off the forces that are “corrupting ancient Egypt” during which those struggles form a new Brotherhood that Assassin’sCreedd has been known for.
Another surprise title was PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds making its way to console, exclusively on Xbox. Battlegrounds have become one of the most played online survival games and its successes will continue to soar once it arrives on Xbox One.
Metro Exodus surprised many as 4A Games revealed the first gameplay trailer for the sequel to Metro: Last Light. The gritty, survival horror this time takes the fight above ground as it was announced for a 2018 release.
Xbox One X and exclusives aside, Xbox also focused on its features and systems and one of those was the free 4K update for the following Xbox titles: Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Killer Instinct, Halo Wars 2 and Minecraft for free for the One X.
Another Xbox feature to get boosted was its backward compatibility system as Spencer announced that it will be expanding its catalogue to include more games in what could be the biggest news from E3 thus far:
TheXbox One X will go on sale November 7, 2017 at $499. Although we have yet to reveal what the South African pricing would be, it’s a great time to be alive as an Xbox One owner the most powerful and smallest console will be coming to town this Festive Season.
