Today’s announcement from Ubisoft is an important one for Far Cry fans.
It’s been nearly two years since Far Cry 4 as Ubisoft teased fans last week with screenshots of what looks to be set in Montana but of course, we’ll be bringing you up to speed with what we know so far…
How to watch the announcement event
According to their Twitter account (@FarCrygame), the event will be live streamed on Ubisoft US’s YouTube channel at 3pm.
Fighting against a cult

Probably the biggest information into the game is that players will be fighting against a religious cult, as depicted on the game’s box cover.
This image, in particular, teases Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper (do Google it) as it depicts a man sitting in the centre believed to be the antagonist is the cult leader flanked by his followers with a sad-looking dog on the far left. Also, a man sitting far right with the words “sinner” carved into his back has weapons on the right, while pictured in the background is an aerial dogfight and a burning barn.
Location, location, location
As of yesterday, there is still no release date for Far Cry 5 but with the announcement event happening today, that could potentially change.
As mentioned earlier, the game was rumoured to be located in the 19th Century, but screenshots confirmed that game will be located in the fictitious town of Hope County, Montana (a real US state). Ubisoft will be using real locations for the game’s detailing which includes mountains, open plains, snow-capped peak, rivers, glaciers and much more.
Battle between man and beast
As expected, every Far Cry title means that an encounter between man and animal is inevitable. Considering that Fra Cry 5 is set in Montana, animals most likely to feature in the game ranges from American Grizzly Bears, mountain lions, American Buffalos and grey wolves.
Ubisoft will present Far Cry 5 at E3 next month, today’s announcement could serve as an official teaser into the game before the big reveal in Los Angeles.
