If, for some strange reason, you don’t follow or heard of Larry Hryb a.k.a. Major Nelson, then you’re probably living under a rock…

On Friday, Major Nelson announced that they will be a major sale coming to Xbox One starting May 16. This sale will put Xbox’s backward compatibility into the spotlight with more than 275 titles on sale. This includes discounts of up to 75% on titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto IV and Skate 3.
The backward compatibility has proven to be the console’s biggest selling point over the PlayStation 4 since its launch in November 2015. Since it’s built into the operating systems, expanding one’s library becomes a seamless motion of adding favourite and new titles to the library whether digitally or disc-installed.
According to Xbox head Phil Spencer at the Xbox Spring Showcase in 2016, “Basically, everytime a new generation shift happens in console gaming, it’s had the tendency to invalidate every game you’ve ever purchased and require a whole new purchase motion, which isn’t great for gamers.”
As of May 4, 2017, these are the current Xbox 360 titles on the backward compatibility list: (back-compat-04-may-171)
